I wanted to take a break from my deep, soul-telling posts and do something a little different. I want to introduce you to BlissfullyErin.com
I started this blog a few months ago as a way to connect to the Vegan blog world. If you know me, you probably know I’m not vegan anymore. If you want to know more about my decision, email me.
The name, Blissfully Erin, came from my original blog, Blissful Veggie. I didn’t feel it was right to have “Veggie” in my name anymore.
I’ll let you in on a little secret- I’m not always blissful. As much as I would love to see trails of metaphorical sunflowers and butterflies floating around me all day, I live on this Earth. Until I reach my final home, (where I will get physical trails of floating sunflowers and butterflies), I’m going to have moments of pain, sadness, anger, guilt, etc. However, I am striving to be as blissful as I can each and every day. This blog, and the name of this blog (as silly as this sounds) keeps me in constant reminder to remain blissful. As part of my journey, I’m working toward that blissfulness, and I choose joy. I choose to live life blissfully, as much as I can. Even through those moments of pain, sadness, anger, guilt, etc.
So, with that being said, this blog is meant to allow me to share all of me. It has helped me in so many ways to just put my thoughts out there with the world. Vulnerability has been so freeing. I dream of publishing a book some day which has been in the writing stages since 2006. This blog is surprisingly helping me reach that dream, along with the advice and encouragement from others in the blogosphere world.
One of those bloggers is Jordan with The Balanced Blonde. TALK about an inspiration. I found her during my vegan days, surprisingly about a post on her transition away from veganism. Months later, that post was something that helped me identify some of my own food struggles.
She did a post a few weeks ago about her favorite things. Since the Blissfully Erin blog is just starting out, I thought it would be fun to do that survey!
A Few Of My Favorite Things
Color: Forever favorite will always be purple and a vibrant turquoisy-teal. My current color is yellow because yellow is blissful and instantly lifts my mood.
Food: I’m a chocolate feen.
Smell: I’m really into the smell of fresh, spring flowers. Unfortunately, my allergies aren’t. I also love the smell of clean laundry.
Genre of literature: Hands down memoirs/recovery and inspirational books.
Time of day: Toward the time when the sun goes to sleep, the air gets cooler, and you can sometimes wear cardigans. It’s just so peaceful for me.
Thing to do when bored: Write! Dream, plan, relax.
Fruit: Strawberries and grapes, although I’m trying to limit my grape consumption. They are so high in sugar!
Fashion/style: I’m fairly average with a hint of bohemian. Love the bohemian style. I also really love the business casual chic look, but it’s not for me personally. I’m basic and I’m okay about it.
Quote: I have hundreds of quotes in my phone, but I think my favorite is, “Comparison is the thief of joy.” –Theodore Roosevelt
Season: Fall, right when I get to pull out my cardigans and boots for the first time. Although spring is beautiful.
Dessert: Chocolate chip cookies fresh out of the oven and cheesecake.
Thing to learn about: Everything! One of my mantras is that if I’m not learning, I’m not growing, and if I’m not growing, I need to change my environment. If I ever get to a place where I stop growing, I’m doing something wrong.
Thing about yourself: I think just the fact that I’m passionate, and when I put my heart into something, I put my whole heart in. Also, that I’m always striving to better myself. And my wild imagination that if any of you were involved in, you’d totally understand why I am how I am. Or you’d want to lock me away. LOL.
I haven’t done one of those since high school. It was pretty fun! Please share with me your favorite things! I’d love to hear.
And, stay tuned for an update post on some exciting things that have gone down over the last three weeks in my life. Super excited to share what God’s doing!
